After you report your claim, a BRADFORD VICTOR-ADAMS MUTUAL claims representative will inspect and write an estimate to determine the damages as the result of the fire. We will write our estimate based on the cost to repair or replace the damaged property with standard new constructions materials of like kind and quality. You would be responsible for any increase in costs for “nicer” cabinets.
If a tree falls on your home due to wind, we will pay to have the tree removed from the dwelling, to the ground, so your home can be repaired. Your policy does not provide coverage to replace trees damaged by wind in a storm.
This is what's known as the difference between market value and replacement cost, which many people do not understand."Replacement cost" is the amount needed to repair the damage or to rebuild the home to its pre-loss condition. For insurance purposes, the replacement cost of a home is NOT the market value of the home, its purchase price or the outstanding amount of any mortgage loan. It does not include the value of the land, but is the cost of rebuilding your home.
